A Practical Approach to Business, Data & Technology

I’m an independent AI & Data Consultant and the founder of Absteq Consulting, based in Singapore.

My work brings together experience in business operations, enterprise IT, data management and technology implementation.

I believe good technology decisions begin with understanding the business problem — not choosing the latest tools.

Experience Shaped by Business, Data and Technology

My professional journey has taken me through enterprise IT leadership, business systems, data management and, more recently, machine learning and AI.

During my time at IKEA, I held regional IT leadership responsibilities across Southeast Asian markets, working with enterprise systems and major retail technology initiatives. I later led a personal data protection implementation engagement spanning Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, involving business processes and operating procedures across multiple functions.

Since then, my work has continued to evolve through projects involving data, analytics, machine learning and AI, with an emphasis on connecting technology capabilities to practical business needs.

These experiences shape how I approach consulting today: understand the business context, examine the available information and systems, and recommend solutions appropriate to the problem.

My approach to business systems has also been influenced by enterprise architecture thinking, including the Zachman Framework, which I have applied in my professional work over many years.

Not Every Business Problem Needs AI

Some challenges are better addressed through clearer processes, trustworthy data, conventional software or improved integration. Others may benefit from machine learning, AI or intelligent assistance.

The important thing is choosing an approach that fits the business rather than fitting the business around a technology.

Over the years, I’ve learned that good solutions are not necessarily the most sophisticated ones. They’re the ones that solve the right problem, work reliably and make sense for the people using them.

Straightforward Conversations Thoughtful Solutions

I prefer working collaboratively, understanding the people involved and discussing practical options openly.

An engagement might begin with a focused discussion, an assessment of existing systems or a review of a particular business process. Depending on what is needed, it may develop into solution design, prototyping or implementation.

I believe complex problems deserve serious thinking — but the working relationship need not be complicated or overly formal.

My Consulting Perspective

Independent AI & Data Consultant
Helping organizations cross the gap between AI experimentation and responsible deployment.
Give me a business workflow. I can identify where AI creates value, prototype it, connect it to enterprise data and tools, put appropriate controls around it, and turn it into something people can actually use.
